Partnering with Parents & Carers

Our Family Engagement Workers support the partnership between The Regulation Station and home by building relationships with parents/carers. Parents/Carers are an important part of their child’s self-regulation skills journey and they will be supported to engage in self-regulation skills training as a supportive and developmental measure.

Family Engagement Workers will also support parents to identify their own areas of need and set goals based on these assessments, this could include accessing training opportunities, meeting medical needs or seeking employment.

Assessment and screening

When children and young people struggle to attend school consistently, they often miss out on assessment opportunities that could provide supportive strategies to improve their experience of school. Extreme behaviours are sometimes an indication of underlying cognitive needs or gaps in knowledge and understanding.

At The Regulation Station, we offer psychometric assessment

  • Exact - reading comprehension, reading, writing and typing speed

  • Dyslexia screener

  • Dyscalculia screener

  • New Group Reading Test (Secondary and Primary)

We also utilise the Pupils’ Attitude to Self and School (PASS), Core 10, Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS) and Student Resilience Survey, simple assessments that provide insight into children’s social and emotional skills, attitudes to school and support the identification of mental health needs.

Child Therapy

Continuing Professional Development

Agencies are able to access training and guidance on the DBT self-regulation skills training process so that they can support students in the practice of the skills as they learn them each week.
